MDI in the media|

(TBTCO) – More than 100 reporters and press managers have participated in the seminar “Vietnamese and international experiences on investigative journalism” recently held in Hanoi.

This is a workshop co-organized by the Institute of Press and Propaganda, Center for Communication and Development Initiative, Vietnam Journalist Association Representative Office in Ho Chi Minh City, with the sponsorship of the Embassy of Denmark.

Tran Le Thuy, Director of MDI Center for Communication and Development Initiative, Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, said: Currently, most Vietnamese journalists face dangers and pressures. to write investigative articles with the same profession as international journalism. They have contributed to bring to light many works of public interest such as crime fighting, organized gangsters, negative corrupt acts, and protection of health and environment safety for the people.

If the investigative press is weakened, it will lose a valuable support for people, state agencies and businesses when they need to speak up to ensure fairness, right and left in society.

Therefore, investigative journalists need to be protected by law when they act in the public interest. They need professional support from the state, from the editorial boards, better professional investment to ensure the accuracy and objectivity in the articles, to avoid unfortunate mistakes.

Associate Professor, PhD. Truong Ngoc Nam, Director of the Institute of Journalism and Propaganda, said: As a major press training institution in Vietnam, the Academy of Journalism and Communication considers building and developing the curriculum as an important task. center.

The training program should be modern, practical and effective. Journalism skills, including investigative journalism, need to be taught methodically so that students practice in a legal and ethical manner.

Mr. John Nielsen, Ambassador of Denmark in Vietnam said: After more than 3 years in Vietnam, I have noticed the gradual maturity of the Vietnamese press. You have a generation of journalists who are very dedicated to the profession.

However, I also understand that the Vietnamese press is in need of higher training, according to international standards, in order to catch up with Vietnam’s fast integration with the world. The world is changing fast and the media are facing a great challenge to renew themselves and improve their credibility with readers.

It is known that tomorrow, April 2, 2014 in Ho Chi Minh City, an international scientific conference on similar investigative journalism will take place./.
