MDI is the leading NGO in investigative journalism development in Vietnam.
We organized two international workshops in investigative journalism in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in 2014 in partnership with Academy of Journalism and Communication, Ho Chi Minh City’s Journalist Association and Tuoi Tre newspaper, with financial support from Embassy of Denmark.
The workshops, with 350 participants who are top investigative journalists, editors, and government officials, opened a debate on challenges that Vietnamese investigative journalists are facing and how to professionally deal with it.
MDI is the only Vietnamese member of the Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN). From 2016 to 2019, MDI has introduced many Vietnamese investigative and data analysis journalists to the Asian Investigative Journalism Conference. It is the world’s largest conference on investigative journalism, with the participation of major investigative journalists such as the Panama Papers.
